The Park of Eternal Glory is one of the most beautiful places in Kyiv. It is extremely popular among Kyivites. The memorial Complex of the Park of Eternal Glory in honour of the Soviet soldiers, who fell during the Great Patriotic War, was erected in 1957. In the centre of the memorial there is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, an Eternal Flame burns at the foot of the granite obelisk. The names of 34 fightingmen killed in the battles against the fascists during the defence and liberation of Kyiv are on the marble gravestone. The war brought them together here forever - soldiers, officers and generals - on the banks of the ancient Dnipro in the capital of Ukraine.
